Visit the Maya Ruins of Xunantunich and Cahal Pech

One of, if not the most populate things to do in San Ignacio Belize is to visit the Mayan Ruins. 

San Ignacio is home to some amazing ruins. One of them is the Maya ruins of Xunantunichen. It's located just outside of town. You'll find the ruins by taking a right off of Highway 186 onto the road to San Ignacio. After about five miles, you'll see a sign for the ruins on the left. Pull into the parking lot and follow the trail to the site. The ruins are about an hour's walk from town and there are no buses that go there, so you'll need to take a taxi, rent a car or take a horse back riding tour to visit. (The horseback tour was a great way to go there and see the country side)

If you don't want to walk that far, you can visit Cahal Pech, which is only about a 20-minute walk from town. To get there, just follow George Price Avenue (the main street in town) until it ends at Burns Avenue. Take a left and follow Burns until it ends at the Cahal Pech entrance. There is an admission fee to enter the site.
