The ancient Mayan ruins of Xunantunich are a must do when visiting San Ignacio. It’s just a short drive from the town where you’ll cross the Mopan River on a hand-cranked ferry. The ruins are situated on the banks of the river, where you will travel back through the centuries to the world of temples, plazas and the renowned ball courts of this ancient city. Cahal Pech is right in San Ignacio, perched up on the hill side overlooking the twin towns.
The Mayan ruins at Tikal are one of the most famous ruins in Guatemala and one of the major sites of the Mayan civilization. It's easy to access this Mayan site from San Ignacio, as it's only a two hours drive away.
The Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve is known for its unique landscape, rushing rivers and waterfalls, caves, Maya temples and teeming wildlife. Make sure you see the cascading waters of the Rio On Pools, explore the Barton Creek cave system, Francis Ford Coppola’s Blancaneaux Lodge, Big Rock Falls, the immense Rio Frio Cave and Caracol Maya Temple.

Nice, spacious, and private Airbnb a bit outside of town, but a short walk to plenty of grocery stores and restaurants. Friendly host who was quick to respond to any question during our stay. You can catch a taxi to the downtown area for just a few dollars from the main road (1 minute walk away).

We loved our stay at Carlos's place! Beautifully well kept, nice view and breeze on the hill - a peaceful retreat away from the bustle of town. Well equipped home away from home in a great neighborhood! An excellent small grocer is a short walk away, We will definitely stay here again!

Great place within walking distance of the centre of San Ignacio. It's not right in the centre, but there are restaurants and supermarkets within 5 minutes walk. Takes about 25-30 mins to get to the centre.
The apartment was clean and tidy and had we needed to self cater during our 4 night stay. Also easy to grab a taxi to the border if you are heading that way.

This home is exactly as stated. It felt very luxurious and spacious for 2 people. We were checked in by Angie, who took great care in being sure that we could use the safe, would be comfortable, and answered all questions. Any additional questions were replied to almost immediately. Our car was kept behind a locked gate. Two grocery stores were a few minutes’ walk away, as well as two bakeries.
We walked to and ate each day at Hodes restaurant, which was referenced in the house manual. We tried the classic chicken with beans and rice dish, chicken alfredo, nachos, and the corn sampler (which was all Mexican dishes). All were great.
We visited Cahal Pech by foot and Xunantunich, Lamanai, Rio Frio cave, Rio on pools, and the Belize zoo by car. We recommend all. There were three groups of Howler monkeys, howling very loudly at Lamanai; which one of the trips highlights.
We would visit this area again as we felt very safe, every person we passed said hi, and the warm temperatures were great.

This house was just as the pictures advertised. It has an incredibly safe feeling and was exceptionally clean! We loved the stay here, with a smart TV and partial air conditioning it was very enjoyable when not exploring the town of San Ignacio. It’s about a 15 minute walk to downtown on kinda a busy road, but if you don’t wanna walk then it’s only $5 BZD to taxi. Angie checked us in and was beyond wonderful. She gave us all the information we needed about the house and San Ignacio. She was so kind and responded very quickly. Plus there is a friendly bunny on the property that you can pet overall very great place to stay
